Join artist Alison De La Cruz and death doula Minda Sanchez Jariwala for The Healing Hear Here Circle, a 90-minute workshop that creates space for grief to be acknowledged, witnessed, and welcome. Participants are invited to connect with their grief by giving voice to it in a group, giving form to it by crafting memorial keepsakes, and bearing honest witness to the grief expressed by others in the circle. Participants are invited to speak as much or as little as they feel comfortable. The majority of our time together will be spent crafting – using materials and our hands to make individual and collective art that make tangible the grief we hold in our hearts. Participants are invited to bring remnants of fabric, paper, or other craft elements. We will have supplies available as well.

At the end of the circle, participants will be invited to share pieces they make to the collection for installation on the Armory’s Arch as part of DeLa's Grieving & Healing Portal installation at LA State Historic Park on May 20, presented as part of the Heal, Hear, Here event produced by LA Freewaves and Take Action Mental Health LA.

In addition to the workshop, DeLa will be holding open studio time on Saturday 5/13 & Sunday 5/14 from 1-5pm. There will be opportunities to help construct, assemble or witness the arch we will be making.
