Conversation: Between Words and Silence
In conjunction with the Armory's current exhibition Between Words and Silence: The Work of Translation/ Entre palabras y silencio: La tarea de la traducción, we present a conversation with Clara Balaguer, Gala Porras-Kim, and Selene Preciado about language possibilities, moments, and processes of translations in art and curatorial practices.
Selene Preciado (independent curator) will consider the challenges particular to her work as a bilingual curator and the work of translation in art texts.
Gala Porras-Kim (artist) will discuss her experimentation with other languages in her work, such as Zapoteco and Korean, sometimes invisible universes.
Clara Balaguer (artist) will talk about her social practice, including her projects Hardworking Goodlooking and The Office of Culture and Design, and how her work intersects with translation, publishing, printing, and graphic design.
The talk will be moderated by Daniela Lieja Quintanar, co-curator, Between Words and Silence. This event is free and open to the public.
