Jorge Pardo: Untitled (One Colorado)
In this temporary exhibition, a 28-foot pepper tree installed in the center of the public courtyard is illuminated by sets of multi-colored translucent globes, designed by the artist, that hang from the branches. Viewers are invited to rest and converse around seating elements, also designed by the artist, that surround the base of the tree. Twinkling light from the illuminated globes dance and fall onto the benches, ground, and viewers from the tree’s vast canopy. Pardo treats the space of One Colorado as his canvas, engaging viewers with a work that produces visual delight while at the same time questioning distinctions between fine art and landscape design.
