We are pleased to announce that the Armory has received a $100,000 research grant from the Getty Foundation for From the Ground Up: Nurturing Diversity in Hostile Environments, a forward-looking ethnobotanical study undertaken as the basis of a forthcoming exhibition and an accompanying publication. The project is part of the region-wide, Getty arts initiative Pacific Standard Time, an unprecedented series of collaborations among institutions across Southern California, scheduled to open in 2024. The 2024 iteration of Pacific Standard Time explores the intersection of art and science. Projects will face today’s complex challenges—from climate change to global pandemics, from digital surveillance to environmental justice—and shape new visions of the past and the future.
