A collaboration between the Armory and Learning Works Charter School, artWORKS encourages teens from different backgrounds to express themselves through a combination media arts and fine arts. We creatively engage teens in improving academic performance, deepening cultural awareness, developing positive social skills, and teachoing creative pursuits that matter in school and in the real world.

All artWORKS after-school classes are free, but registration is required (see form below).

Classes are held at artWORKS, 2914 E. Walnut, Pasadena (not at the Armory).

Fall 2016 Class Schedule

Guitar Workshop
Want to learn guitar, or just looking for people to jam with? Beginner and intermediate players welcome. Bring your own guitar, or we'll provide one for you to use in-class. Limited to 6 students.

Beginning (4 – 5 pm)
Intermediate (5 – 6 pm)
September 12 – December 5

Recording Studio
Use industry-standard software to produce your own music, make beats, mix sound, and write lyrics. Limited to 8 students.

Mondays & Thursdays
4 – 6 pm
September 12 – December 8

Street art and graffiti art — come learn all about it and have fun creating your own work. Learn techniques to make original stencils, stickers, and mural panels using spray paint in a creative, safe, and legal environment. Learn how artists take it from the street to the world of art and media.

4 – 5:30 pm

Artist Life Drawing
Learn one of the oldest traditions in art: drawing the human form. Parental consent required for teen enrollment + $5 donation per meeting for live model.

6 – 9 pm
September 8 – December 8

Screen Printing
Learn the basics of screen printing so you can create your own art on t-shirts, posters, and other objects. Learn how to do it yourself, and do it right.

Digital Photo
Learn to take great digital photos and use Photoshop to transform and enhance them in interesting ways.
