Washington Middle School
The Armory is excited to announce that current 7th and 8th
graders at Washington Middle School in association with
Armory Teaching Artists recently completed the design and
execution of a large wall mosaic using Venetian glass,
installed in the main entrance of the school. This is the
second Armory-led large-scale public art project completed
at the school in the 2011-2012 school year.

of Letterpress Denise Figueredo. We want to extend our
congratulations to Denise who was selected to be featured in
the new publication The Vandercook100 celebrating 100
artists who own and operate the Vandercook press, on the
100th anniversary of the press.

It is time for the *Monster Drawing Rally*, a tradition
established in Los Angeles by Outpost for Contemporary
Art. *
The Monster Drawing Rally consists of four one-hour shifts
with 25 artists drawing simultaneously each hour.

A set of benches were recently created by two groups of 7th
grade students who participated in the Armory’s visual art
classes offered at Washington Middle School during the fall
semester 2011. Guest Teaching Artist, Stan Edmonson, worked
with the students in developing ideas that would reflect
their perceptions and feelings about their school through
photography and collages.
