Nonprofit and donor-supported, Armory Center for the Arts is the Los Angeles region’s leading independent institution for contemporary art exhibitions and community arts education. The Armory believes that an understanding and appreciation of the arts is essential for a well-rounded human experience and a healthy civic community. Our mission is to build on the power of art to transform lives and communities through creating, teaching, and presenting the arts. Armory exhibitions inspire dialogue around visual culture and contemporary life, contribute to global discourses in contemporary art, and introduce contemporary visual art to Pasadena, Southern California, and beyond. Our exhibitions team also produces a broad range of public programs, including artist residencies, forums, screenings, and performances.

Principal Functions
The Exhibition Program Production Manager supports the Director of Exhibition Programs/Chief Curator in the management, coordination, and implementation of all departmental programs. The person in this position will: handle all registrarial matters, condition reports, loan paperwork, and shipping; assemble, supervise, and, if required, work alongside freelance installation preparators; coordinate lectures, panels, screenings, concerts, performances, readings, and other public events; and assist with production of publicity, publications, and brochures.

The position is part management, part registrarial, and part production. The Exhibition Program Production Manager is responsible for many aspects of the planning, preparation, installation, and maintenance of the Armory’s exhibitions (three rotations annually) and related programs. The Exhibition Program Production Manager also interfaces with members of Armory staff in areas of education, development, and communication, and often represents the department to artists, lenders, representatives from other institutions, and other stakeholders and partners. This individual thus sets an important tone, internally and publicly, for the professionalism and competency of the department and the trust placed in it by its collaborators; a trust that is, in turn, imparted to audiences, funders, and other stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects simultaneously with calm grace and vigilant attention to detail; has experience and competency in office protocols; is a clear communicator in writing and verbally; possesses the hands-on skills and technical knowledge required to install exhibitions safely and efficiently; and can identify and manage the talent required for diverse program productions and other technical and administrative needs.
